The cathedral in the old town in Basel. We had lots of time to explore the town since we only went to the curling when Canada was playing.
The reason we came to Basel. The venue was actually an indoor tennis stadium.
A rainy day at the market in front of the Basel Rathaus (city hall).
No trip to Switzerland would be complete without a fondue!
After the curling we visited some more of the country. This is the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne.
Berne. Everyone gathered around the clock in the background for what we expected to be a show of moving people, etc. Nothing happened!
A winery owner from the region gave us a tour of the vineyards on the slopes of Lake Geneva. A very nice time!
We took a boat to Chateau de Chillon, a Swiss feudal fortress on Lake Geneva.
Our ship for the Danube River cruise.
Starting our cruise at dusk from Budapest. That is the Hungarian parliament in the background.
Another, up close view of the parliament from the ship.
First stop Bratislava, Slovakia. The buildings in the old town have been fixed up from what they looked like during the Soviet occupation.
