More Exotic Places

   
    African CruisesIn the spring of 2025 we cruised twice in Africa. First we sailed down the east coast, from Dubai to Mauritius and then did the  west coast, from Capetown to Lisbon,  Highlights included Abu Dhabi and Madagascar in the east, and Namibia and The Canary Islands in the west.

    African SafarisIn the fall of 2023 we were in Africa for safaris in Tanzania and Botswana.  Before our safaris we visited Stellenbosch in South Africa and Zanzibar, and after the cruise, Dubai & Abu Dhabi in the  United Arab Emirates.  Here's the photos for those parts of the trip.

    Turkiye, Armenia, & GeorgiaWe visited Eastern Europe in the fall of 2022.  We started in Istanbul, Turkiye and then visited other  attractions in the country, including Cappadocia and Ephesus.  We also stopped in Tbilisi to explore Georgia and then Yerevan for the highlights of Armenia.

    HawaiiIn December 2018 we visited Hawaii for the first time.  We started in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, and then took a Norwegian cruise ship that stopped at Kahului (Maui), Hilo (Hawaii), Kona (Hawaii), and Nawiliwili (Kauai), before returning to Honolulu.

    Around AsiaIn the winter of 2017 we returned to Asia.  We started with stops in Dubai UAE, India, Myranmar, and Malaysia, and then headed to Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Jordan, and Qatar before returning again to Dubai and then to London and home.

    AntarcticaIn December 2016 we visited Antarctica, our seventh continent. We saw lots of wildlife (mostly penquins!) as well as incredible views of mountains, glaciers, icebergs, and more!  On the way down and back we had stops in the South American countries of Chile and Argentina.

    SE Asia & AustraliaIn spring 2014, after leaving China, we explored many of the countries of Southeast Asia, starting with Borneo, Malaysia, and Vietnam, and then Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, and Bali.  We then spent time in Australia before heading to Japan.

    China, Japan, & KoreaIn spring 2014 we visited Asia. We started in China, with stops in Beijing and Xi'an, and then cruised the Yangtze River. Then it was Shanghai and Hong Kong before moving on to SE Asia (see next trip). We then visited Japan and Korea before heading home.

    South AmericaOur summer 2013 trip was to South America. We visited Brazil (the Amazon, Rio de Janeiro, Iguazu Falls), Argentina (Iguazu Falls, Buenos Aires, Mendoza), Chile (Santiago, after first flying to Easter Island), and finally, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands!

    EgyptAfter starting our Spring 2012 vacation in Switzerland (see Trips to Europe), we visited Egypt. We spent four days on a Nile River cruise and then had three nights in Cairo where we visited, among other things, the pyramids.  Altogether, we saw lots of  ancient sites!
