Our Travels

South America - Argentina, Chile, & Easter Island
Our Travels
Iquasu Falls

Lots of these animals called coatis in Iquasu National Park. This is the train that took us to the Argentina side of the falls.

Our Travels
Iquasu Falls

The views from the Argentina side were just as impressive as from the Brazil side.

Our Travels
Iquasu Falls

We saw a number of these birds on the trails near the falls.

Our Travels
Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires had a European feel. This is the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace, in Plaza de Mayo.

Our Travels
Buenos Aires

We went to a tango competition while in the city that was quite enjoyable.

Our Travels
Uruguay

There is a ferry from Buenos Aires to Uruguay so we went over for a day trip. We had a nice lunch at the building on the right.

Our Travels
Mendoza

Since it was winter in Argentina, there was no green on the vines but the scenery was still spectacular.

Our Travels
Mendoza

Wine tasting on the patio at one of the 4 wineries we visited on our tour. We were accompanied by a father and son from Brazil.

Our Travels
Santiago, Chile

Plaza de Armas, a large square not far from our apartment.

Our Travels
Easter Island

Just getting off the plane.

Our Travels
Easter Island

Rano Raraku, the quarry where the statues (moai) were cut from rock. Almost 400 are still at this site.

Our Travels
Easter Island

Ahu Akivi. All the moai were knocked over during the wars between the local tribes in the 18th century. Only a few have been restored.

Our Travels
Easter Island

This is Ahu Tongariki, the largest restored shrine on the island (with one extra moai)!

Our Travels
Easter Island

Also at Ahu Tongariki, this shows how huge some of the moai were.

Our Travels
Easter Island

Ahu Tahai, which was near where we were staying in the village, was one of the few with restored eyes.
